Transport services for a wind farm in Guatemala
A Spanish-German wind turbines company has decided to invest in Central America, and our very own company which specializes in Renewable Energy Logistics, has been chosen to support one of the biggest manufacturers in the world to take clean energy to Guatemala, through wind farms.
Our global presence, along with the collaboration of the teams of TIBA Mexico and Guatemala, helped make this operation a reality.
How we provided solutions for transporting of 15 wind turbines
The shipment of 15 wind turbines from Puerto Quetzal included the following: tower sections, power shovels, nacelles, and hubs;headed to Agua Blanca, near the Salvadorean border.
The Guatemalan ports of Quetzal and Agua Blanca, have narrow dimensions for these type of cargo for which each freight element can weight up to 105 tons and measure an average of 2 and 4,5 meters tall.
Our Project Cargo team, accustomed to handling cargo in challenging space dimensions, made sure that the relevant manoeuvres were executed to make sure that all merchandise reached our client in perfect condition.
Actually, the biggest challenge faced during transit time were the heavy rains that along with the complexities found while transiting through local communities, hindered access of special equipment and machinery used to transport this type of merchandise, such as: cranes, blades, trailers, low bed 4 axles, modular and extendable modular equipment.
Nonetheless, our Port-to-Door solutions played a key role in assuring a trouble-free cargo transit from Puerto Quetzal to its final destination .
