HOW TO TRANSPORT A VEHICLE TO ANOTHER COUNTRY
Transporting your vehicle by sea to countries in Africa, South America or elsewhere involves processing paperwork and requires knowledge of customs procedures.

WHAT DOCUMENTATION DO I NEED TO TRANSPORT A VEHICLE?
The following documentation is necessary to transport vehicles.
- The vehicle’s log book.
- Deregistration of the vehicle or, in its absence, proof of payment of deregistration fee.
- The owner’s National Identity card or the sales contract and both parties identity cards or the sales invoice for the vehicle.
HOW TO TRANSPORT VEHICLES: RO-RO VS CONTAINER
This depends on your needs. If you want to transport your personal belongings as well, container shipping is an excellent option.
Vehicles transported in containers are considered dangerous goods and according to Special Provision 961 of the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) code they must be signed off by a cargo handling warehouse and never by an individual. Compliance with regulations is the responsibility of the warehouse and never of the individual. As an individual may disappear taking any information about a particular matter with them, the use of an approved warehouse is advisable.
