Importation of pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and hygiene products into Peru is regulated by the Ministry of Health (MINSA in its Spanish acronym) through the Directorate General of Medicinal Products, Supplies, and Drugs (DIGEMID in its Spanish acronym) as the National Authority for Pharmaceuticals, Medical Devices, and Hygiene Products (ANM in its Spanish acronym), which has to ensure compliance with Supreme Decree No. 016-2011-SA.
Requirements for importing pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and hygiene products into Peru
If you’d like to import pharmaceuticals, hygiene products or medical devices into Peru, apart from the basic documentation for any imports you’ll also need to meet some minimum requirements. There may additionally be further prerequisites depending on the tariff classification of the goods:
- Health registration or exceptional import license
- Manufacturing batch and expiration date, and serial number or identification code for hygiene products or medical devices
- Certificate of analysis
- Certificate of good manufacturing practices
The main countries from which Peru imports medical devices and supplies are China, Thailand, Malaysia, the USA, and Germany.
