LOGISTICS AND TRANSPORT FOR MEDICAL DEVICES, PHARMACEUTICALS, AND COSMETICS

International trade in medical supplies, cosmetics, and drugs in Colombia is regulated by:

  • Circular 018 of 2020 annex 13.
  • Decree 1165 of 2019, as amended by Decree 360 of 2021.
  • Decree 249 of 2013, drug importation requirements.

If you’re looking to import medical supplies, drugs or cosmetics into Colombia, you’ll need to process them via INVIMA, the National Institute of Drug and Food Surveillance. The regulations are stringent and exhaustive, and the restrictions and requirements may vary depending on the products’ classification. However, for these products you’ll need:

  • Health notification or health registration.
  • Storage in warehouses authorized by INVIMA.
  • Supporting document issued by PAHO (Pan American Health Organization) in the case of drugs.
