Reefer Sea Freight
The refrigerator / Reefer container is a type of intermodal equipment with a refrigerator motor, which allows the transport of sensitive goods at controlled temperatures, for instance the majority of food products – like fruits, vegetables, dairy products, meat, chocolate, wine – pharmaceuticals and chemicals.
Reefer container is equipped with a motor, so that it always depends on an external power supply source, which may be the existing connections or terminals on ships or, in the case of vehicles which carry out the transport of the container, each of generators usually called “gen set”. Not all trucks and other vehicles are equipped with this equipment (also called “backpack”), so we recommend that you consult us for competitive transport prices in reefer container.
Note: We recommend consulting the reefer container load guide, to ensure that your goods remains at the desired temperature throughout the journey.
Reefer containers specifications
The most common Reefer seafreight containers allow to set a fixed temperature between -25 ° C to + 25 ° C, with a tolerance of +/- 2 ° C. Although this solution is adequate for most products, there are cases where it is necessary to ensure a lower temperature or other conditions, it is necessary to use more specific types of reefer container. The reefer containers have its measures according to the ISO 6346 standard and often used in format 20 ‘and 40’, the most common being the following:
(Length x Width x Height) + CU.M
|20 ’RF||5,4 m x 2,2 m x 2,2 m / 28 m3||Equipment sparse in some ports available only on some routes and sometimes has the same costs as 40 ‘ RF containers.|
|40’RF||11,5 m x 2,2 m x 2,2 m / 59 m3||It is the most common and easy to find equipment|
|40’HC RF||11,5 m x 2,2 m x 2,5 m / 67 m3||Higher capacity equipment.|
